In recent years, there have been many studies on the relationship of civil society in the Arab region with changes on the scene, and its effects on the movement witnessed in the region about ten years ago, Among them are those who see it as a key partner in making this movement, while others focus on the interaction of civil society organizations with this movement. However, this study attempts to see the opposite picture: how this movement has affected civil society in terms of:

– Role Approaches.

– Their agenda and strategies.

-Internal structure and governance in these institutions.

The book addresses the most important problems facing civil society through its interaction with the ongoing movements in the region over the years from 2011 until the issuance of this study, and its needs based on three levels: the institutional level, the level of changes in the context, and the level of relations with other actors in these changes.

The study examines the cases of eight Arab countries, namely Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Iraq, Yemen, Syria (organizations operating in Lebanon), Jordan and Lebanon and through an analytical chapter linking the different cases and the most important problems and demands of civil society organizations.

There are several challenges facing civil society in the Arab region, the most important of which is the absence of a democratic culture

And the overlap between civil and political action and several problems are related to internal governance and transparency, in addition to the absence of networking and the absence of a long-term strategy

To face these challenges, civil society organizations must work to use changes that occurred after the Arab revolutions, as well as networking and working on more governance and transparency.

The role of civil society in the transitional phases remains a foundational role for later phases and for the expansion of civil society tools in public policy making, in Drafting legislation and supervising executive and legislative authorities.
